Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted maths support in 1:1 and small-group interventions, adapting strategies for pupils with different abilities and SEN needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to plan and prepare resources that align with KS2 maths objectives, ensuring accessibility for all learners.
  • Monitor pupil progress, sharing insights with the class teacher and SENCo to inform future teaching approaches.
  • Encourage children to build resilience, develop problem-solving skills, and engage positively with the KS2 maths curriculum.
  • Maintain a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, helping pupils stay focused and confident in their abilities.
  • Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion, contributing to a positive school ethos.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working in a primary school environment, preferably supporting KS2 pupils in maths.
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 maths curriculum, with a proven track record of delivering successful interventions.
  • Ability to adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with SEN.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate closely with teaching staff and other professionals.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Patient, flexible, and proactive, with a passion for motivating and engaging children in their learning.
