Location: Chichester
Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Maths Focus – Upper Key Stage 2)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)

A beautiful countryside primary school in Chichester is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant with a maths focus to support pupils in Upper Key Stage 2. This role is ideal for a candidate with a maths degree or experience working with the KS2 or KS3/KS4 curriculum, who is passionate about helping children develop strong numeracy skills and gain confidence in their learning.

In this role, you will work closely with teachers to deliver small-group interventions and one-to-one support, helping pupils bridge gaps in their mathematical understanding and achieve their potential. You will play a vital role in making maths accessible, engaging, and enjoyable, ensuring that pupils develop problem-solving skills that will serve them throughout their education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group maths interventions for pupils in Upper Key Stage 2
  • Assist in delivering and adapting maths lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils in developing numeracy skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in maths
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to track progress and provide targeted support
  • Help create a positive and engaging learning environment, making maths enjoyable for all learners
  • Follow the school’s safeguarding and behavioural policies at all times

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • A maths degree or experience working with the KS2 or KS3/KS4 curriculum
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
  • A patient, supportive, and engaging approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to pupils’ needs
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies
