Location: Worthing
Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Key Stage 2)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)

A primary school in [Location] is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 2. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and helping young learners develop confidence in their abilities. You will be working closely with class teachers, providing one-to-one and small group support, assisting with lesson delivery, and ensuring that all pupils receive the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.

Key Stage 2 is a crucial stage in a child’s education, helping them to develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving. Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be to support children with different learning styles, ensuring they are engaged and motivated throughout the school day. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum and be able to adapt learning materials to meet the needs of all pupils, including those requiring additional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils in Key Stage 2
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons, adapting activities to support individual learning needs
  • Help children develop confidence in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving
  • Work closely with the class teacher to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum
  • Follow the school’s safeguarding and behavioural policies at all times

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting
  • A strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to pupils’ needs
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies
  • Qualifications relating to education, SEN, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably
