Join Our Team as a KS2 Teaching Assistant & Behaviour Mentor – Worthing Primary School

Job Title: KS2 Teaching Assistant & Behaviour Mentor
Hours: Full-time, 08:30 to 15:30

Are you passionate about supporting children’s learning while making a real difference in their personal development? We are looking for a dedicated and patient KS2 Teaching Assistant who can provide classroom support and mentor children with challenging behaviour. This is an exciting role where you will help foster a positive learning environment and guide pupils to develop essential social and emotional skills.

If you have experience working with children, a natural ability to mentor, and a keen interest in behavioural support, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support to the KS2 teaching staff.
  • Work 1:1 or with small groups of pupils to support their academic progress.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to pupils with challenging behaviour, encouraging positive behaviour strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored behaviour support plans.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour, fostering respect and focus among students.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably in KS2.
  • Experience or interest in supporting children with challenging behaviour.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, pupils, and parents.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
