Year 2 Teaching Assistant

I am working with a school in Horsham who are dedicated to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. They are seeking a compassionate and creative 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide specialized support to a Year 2 student with Autism.

Role and Details:

  • Position: Year 2 ,one-on-one Teaching Assistant
  • Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (with potential to build up to a full timetable)
  • Location: Horsham

In this role, you will work closely with a young student who has a unique way of interacting with her environment, and who requires both general classroom support and individualised assistance to help her succeed.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Calm, gentle, and patient, with a flexible approach to meeting the student’s needs.
  • Creative, with a particular interest in art, to engage the student in their interests.
  • Empathetic and understanding of children with Autism Spectrum Condition, able to provide a supportive and predictable routine.
  • Capable of mirroring the student’s calm and quiet demeanor to create a comfortable and reassuring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 assistance and general classroom support.
  • Facilitate interaction with peers and support social development.
  • Assist with academic tasks, and their own personalised timetable.
  • Maintain a structured and predictable routine, narrating activities to help the student understand and engage.
  • Adapt to the student’s flexible timetable and individual needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
