Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time (Term Time Only)

A school in Worthing is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background in supporting children with high needs Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role involves empowering pupils by ensuring they receive the best possible learning experience and helping them progress academically, socially, and emotionally. Adaptability is key, as you will be working across various year groups, supporting children with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, and more complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with significant SEN needs
  • Adapt tasks and activities to meet a variety of learning styles and abilities
  • Promote an inclusive environment, encouraging independence and self-esteem in pupils
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, and other staff to develop and implement personalised strategies
  • Monitor progress, communicating observations to inform future interventions
  • Work across all year groups, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to move between classes as required

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience supporting children with high needs SEN (e.g., ASC, ADHD, SEMH)
  • Strong understanding of strategies that empower students to overcome barriers to learning
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Calm, proactive, and committed to helping pupils develop confidence and achieve their goals
