Teaching Assistant (Lower Key Stage 2)
Location: Midhurst Area
Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Hours: Five mornings a week (Term Time Only)

A school near Petworth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work primarily in Lower Key Stage 2, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help small groups or individual children access learning effectively, adapting your approach to meet their unique requirements. Flexibility is crucial, as you may occasionally be required to assist in other year groups. This role is ideal for someone who has practical experience in a school or educational setting and thrives on making a difference to pupils’ progress and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils in Lower KS2, adapting learning activities to suit individual or small-group needs
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SEN staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate interventions
  • Use a variety of strategies to build confidence and encourage participation in the classroom
  • Be ready to assist in other year groups if the need arises, demonstrating flexibility and a team-focused mindset
  • Monitor pupil progress, sharing insights with relevant staff to inform future planning and support

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Proven experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Strong understanding of how to support children with additional needs, using tailored strategies to enhance learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Patient, flexible, and proactive, with a willingness to adapt to a variety of classroom situations
