Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time (Term Time)

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with additional needs. This role requires a Teaching Assistant who can confidently break down tasks, scaffold learning, and provide personalised support to children, both in 1:1 and small group settings. You will work collaboratively with the class teacher and use your initiative to identify and respond to children needing extra support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with additional needs, both on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings.
  • Break down tasks and scaffold learning to ensure all pupils can access and engage with the curriculum.
  • Identify children needing extra support, adapting strategies and approaches to meet each child’s unique learning needs.
  • Support classroom activities as directed by the class teacher and be ready to adapt in the moment as needs arise.
  • Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all children feel encouraged and engaged.
  • Monitor children’s progress, communicating with the teacher to ensure individual needs are met effectively.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Confidence in breaking down tasks and scaffolding learning to meet diverse needs.
  • Ability to provide support in 1:1 and small group settings and adapt strategies as required.
  • Strong observational skills to identify children who may need extra support.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently, using initiative to respond to classroom dynamics.
  • Clear communication skills and a nurturing, patient approach to learning.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
