  • Implement sensory-based and therapeutic strategies tailored to meet individual student needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to deliver holistic support for students.
  • Use a range of assistive technologies and resources to ensure accessible learning for all students.
  • Develop and implement behavior support plans to manage and reduce challenging behaviors effectively and empathetically.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, interventions, and achievements, and share these with parents and carers as part of regular communication.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes safety, respect, and learning.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Significant experience teaching students with a range of SEND, particularly those with ASD, PMLD, and sensory or physical needs.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND-specific teaching strategies, including TEACCH, Intensive Interaction, or sensory integration approaches.
  • Ability to implement effective behavior management strategies with confidence and sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, resilience, and creativity in meeting the complex needs of the students.

Desirable:

  • Training in communication systems such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices.
  • Experience supporting students with medical or physical needs, including familiarity with hoisting or other manual handling practices.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and experience contributing to their development and review.

What We Offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive team committed to the well-being of students and staff.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training in SEND-specific strategies and approaches.
  • The chance to work in a well-resourced, purpose-built learning environment.
  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.

How to Apply:
Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged.
