We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join our growing team at a newly opened SEMH school in Worthing. Located in a prime area with excellent public transport links and ample parking, this rapidly expanding school is set to welcome 80 students by the new year. We are seeking committed staff who are enthusiastic about being part of this exciting journey and growing alongside the school.

Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching Science: Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated science lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, fostering a curiosity for the natural world and scientific inquiry.
- Tailored Support: Work closely with students to understand their learning styles, adapting lessons to meet their individual needs and ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, using behaviour management strategies to support students with SEMH needs in managing their emotions and behaviours during lessons.
- Monitoring Progress: Track and assess students’ academic and personal development, providing constructive feedback to help them progress in science and build their confidence.
- Collaborative Working: Work closely with colleagues, including teaching assistants, SEN specialists, and pastoral staff, to ensure a holistic approach to supporting each student.
- Encouraging Engagement: Motivate students to actively participate in science experiments, discussions, and activities, inspiring a love for science and helping them build essential skills. Use Positive reinforcement strategies.
Candidate Qualities:
- Passionate Educator: A love for teaching science and a commitment to helping students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts.
- Experience in SEN/SEMH Settings: Preferably, candidates will have experience working in SEN or SEMH environments, supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Patience and Empathy: Ability to form strong relationships with students, showing patience and understanding, especially when managing challenging behaviours.
- Adaptability: A flexible approach to teaching, with the ability to adjust lesson plans and teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and emotional needs.
- Team Player: Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with other staff members to create a consistent, supportive learning environment.
