Job Title: Nurture Class Teacher
Contract: 6 weeks starting in January (possibility of extension)
Hours: Full-time (Term Time)

A local primary school in Crawley is seeking a Nurture Class Teacher to work within their Special Support Centre (SSC) unit. This short-term contract begins in January for 6 weeks, with the potential for extension. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold QTS, but individuals with extensive experience supporting children with additional needs in educational or care settings will also be considered favourably.

The role involves providing a nurturing, structured environment where pupils with a range of additional needs can thrive both emotionally and academically. You will focus on building trust, promoting engagement, and adapting learning to meet pupils’ individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead small group and 1:1 sessions within the SSC unit, using nurturing strategies to engage pupils.
• Adapt the curriculum and activities to meet individual learning profiles, focusing on both social and academic development.
• Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience.
• Collaborate with the SENCo, class teachers, and support staff, ensuring consistency in approach and effective communication regarding pupil progress.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, contributing to personalised learning plans and identifying next steps.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

• QTS is preferred, but significant experience working with children with additional needs in educational or care settings will be considered.
• Understanding of nurturing approaches and strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, working effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to respond to changing needs.
• A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
