A primary school in Worthing is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Primary Teacher to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for small groups of children with additional needs. This role involves using a deep understanding of strategies, interventions, and best practice in SEN education to ensure pupils receive tailored support that enables them to thrive both academically and personally. By helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence, you will be making a real difference within a supportive team committed to nurturing every child’s potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to small groups of pupils with diverse SEN needs, adapting materials and methods as required.
  • Implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating closely with the SENCo and other staff.
  • Utilise a range of interventions and approaches to engage pupils, enhance their learning, and support social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Track and record pupil progress, providing feedback and making informed adjustments to teaching strategies.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, and external specialists to ensure a cohesive support network for each child.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes independence, resilience, and positive engagement.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Extensive experience working with primary-aged children with a wide range of SEN needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practice in educational settings.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching and learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
