Job Title: SEN Support Assistant
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

We are seeking an INA to support a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and sensory needs in a primary school setting in East Hothely. This part-time role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support for a pupil with ASD and sensory needs.
  • Assist in creating a structured and calm learning environment.
  • Use visual aids and sensory tools to help the child engage with lessons.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to implement personalised strategies.
  • Monitor and encourage the child’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Follow the school’s safeguarding and behavioural policies to ensure the child’s well-being.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
  • Experience or an interest in working with ASD and sensory needs (experience in a school setting is not essential but favoured).
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of pupils.
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
  • Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
