Job Title: Individual Needs Assistant (Year 4)
Hours: Full-time, 08:30 to 15:30

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the life of a child who faces emotional and social challenges? We are looking for a compassionate and empathetic Individual Needs Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 4 girl who has Autism Spectrum Condition, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, and attachment challenges stemming from trauma. This role is based at an Outstanding Ofsted-rated primary school, offering a supportive and inclusive environment where you will help guide this child in both her personal development and academic progress

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a Year 4 girl with ASC, SEMH needs, and attachment challenges.
• Foster a trusting relationship to help the child feel safe and secure in the school environment.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support plans.
• Assist the child in managing emotional and behavioural difficulties in and out of the classroom.
• Create a nurturing and calm space for the child to access learning while considering her mental health needs.
• Encourage social interaction, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

• Experience working with children who have ASC, SEMH needs, or attachment issues.
• Understanding of mental health challenges in children, including trauma-informed approaches.
• A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, working closely with staff to support the child’s individual needs.
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
