Join Our Team as a SEN Individual Needs Assistant – Chichester Primary School

Job Title: SEN Individual Needs Assistant
Hours: 08:30 to 15:30, full time

Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled SEN Individual Needs Assistant to join our welcoming team at a primary school in Chichester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone enthusiastic about supporting children’s personal development and academic progress in a positive school environment.

Whether you have direct experience working with SEN children in educational settings, come from a care background, have studied psychology, or have personal experience supporting individuals with additional needs, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with pupils with special educational needs to support their learning and development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored strategies.
  • Help manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care needs where necessary.
  • Encourage social interaction and communication within the classroom.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN.
  • Experience working with either ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), speech and language, or behavioural challenges.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of pupils.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality policies.
