Position: SEMH School Support Staff (Secondary Aged boys)

We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated individual to join a dynamic SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school, working with secondary-aged children who have experienced trauma, come from broken homes, or present challenging behaviours. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent position offers an exceptional opportunity to make a real difference in young lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEMH needs and SEND.
- Confidently manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies and strategies.
- Build trusting relationships with students, helping them engage in their learning and achieve their full potential.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create tailored learning plans.
- Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs or in a similar role (e.g., SEN, behavioural support).
- A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people who display challenging behaviours.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Confidence in handling complex emotional and behavioural situations with a calm, proactive attitude.
- A deep empathy for students who have been through trauma or come from broken homes.
- Passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their education.
