Position: SEMH School Support Staff (Secondary Aged boys)
Location: Littlehampton
Salary: £89 per day
Job Type: M/Th/F 8:15 – 3:15, Tu/W 8:15 – 16:15, Term time, Temp to Perm

We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated individual to join a dynamic SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school, working with secondary-aged children who have experienced trauma, come from broken homes, or present challenging behaviours. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent position offers an exceptional opportunity to make a real difference in young lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEMH needs and SEND.
  • Confidently manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies and strategies.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, helping them engage in their learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create tailored learning plans.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs or in a similar role (e.g., SEN, behavioural support).
  • A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people who display challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Confidence in handling complex emotional and behavioural situations with a calm, proactive attitude.
  • A deep empathy for students who have been through trauma or come from broken homes.
  • Passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their education.
