£72 - £85 per day

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary Phase, ages 10-18 – Start ASAP – Full-time – Start ASAP

Are you a Teaching Assistant or someone who is committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our clients wonderful SEMH support team in Lewes. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers & take a creative approach to teaching & supporting pupils according to their special educational needs, maximising children’s achievement, and ability to grow.

This is a great opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is looking to start or continue their career in Education and is motivated to inspire learning in young people in an SEMH setting. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure, and you will be working in a school where a strong safeguarding culture is maintained & where pupils are listened to. There are at times aggressive behaviours, as well as verbal abuse, therefore, you must be resilient & understanding of their situation, & be able to provide effective support to them through difficult times.

  • COMPETITIVE day rate (£72 – £85)

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEMH environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facing industries including retail, hospitality, and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures. – Experienced teaching assistants/support workers/carers/key workers/psychology graduates (school will consider strongly those that can demonstrate passion to work with young people if no experience)

Minimum Requirements

  • Natural ability when working with young people
  • Passion for helping and supporting children develop confidence and achieve
  • SEMH experience (desired)
  • Classroom experience (desired)
