Safeguarding & Attendance Officer

Safeguarding & Attendance Officer – Start January 3rd 2023 – Full-time – Crawley, West Sussex, UK.

Our Client, an ambitious SEND school are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding & Attendance Officer to start on a permanent contract after Christmas 2022.

As a Safeguarding & Attendance Officer, you will make recommendations to the Headteacher in devising & managing school procedures & practice including monitoring & evaluation of implementation. You will have responsibility for ensuring all staff are kept informed of updates to practice & procedures & for new staff safeguarding induction being completed. You will provide support to students where appropriate & ensure first aid training for staff is kept up to date.

The role:
To ensure the safeguarding of children
To include management of health & medical records
Admin of medicines
SEN administration
Maintain accurate data & provide analysis & early identification of attendance issues
Work proactively with parents to avoid issuing penalty notices & court action wherever possible

You will work with:
Headteacher
External agencies
Parents & carers
Governors
Senior Leadership Team
Staff

You must have:
English & Maths GCSE at C or above
First Aid training or a willingness to undertake the training
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels

Successful applicants will be required to undertake various background checks including obtaining a DBS, if they do not hold a valid certificate that is on the update service. A safeguarding certificate will also need to be obtained via an online course prior to first placement.
