We are seeking Pupil Engagement Officers, to work one to one with children in a SEN pod within a Primary school.
Role Overview:
As the Pupil Engagement Officer, you will work closely with teaching staff, SEN coordinators, and external specialists to ensure that children with SEN receive the appropriate support and are fully included in the life of the school. Your role will focus on developing strategies to engage and motivate students, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring that every pupil has the resources they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to children with SEN to engage them in lessons, one to one and during activities.
- Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teachers to develop and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and behavior support strategies.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, supporting their emotional and social development.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and class teachers.
- Support the delivery of targeted interventions, ensuring students’ needs are met both inside and outside the classroom.
- Liaise with parents and carers, providing updates on pupil progress and working together to implement strategies for improvement.
- Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and welcoming school culture where all pupils feel safe, valued, and supported.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs, school setting is an advantage.
- A passion for working with children and a commitment to improving their learning experiences.
- A good understanding of different SEN and how to support children with varying needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and liaise with parents, teachers.
- Patience, resilience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN-related courses) are desirable.
