Job Title: Phonics Interventions and SEN Support Assistant
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated Phonics Interventions and SEN Support Assistant to work full-time in a dynamic primary school setting. This role involves providing targeted phonics interventions and tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). It’s an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children’s academic and personal growth while working closely with teaching staff to deliver effective support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured phonics intervention sessions to small groups and individual pupils.
  • Provide 1:1 and group support to children with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalised learning plans.
  • Support pupils’ engagement and confidence in literacy and phonics.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt interventions as needed.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
  • Experience delivering phonics interventions and supporting literacy development.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
  • Qualifications related to education, SEN, or literacy support are not essential but will be considered favourably.
