Maths Intervention Teacher (Secondary School)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Maths Intervention Teacher at a secondary school in Worthing. This long-term position is ideal for an experienced maths teacher or a specialist looking to make a meaningful impact on students who need extra support in mathematics.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Intervention Teacher, you will work closely with students who may be falling behind or require additional assistance to meet their academic targets. The role involves delivering tailored one-to-one and small group sessions, identifying areas of weakness, and helping students build confidence and competency in mathematics. You will collaborate with classroom teachers and senior staff to develop and implement effective intervention strategies, ensuring students are on track for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised maths interventions for students in need of extra support
  • Work with small groups and one-on-one to target key areas of improvement
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with curriculum goals
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report back to senior staff and parents as required
  • Ensure a positive, motivating learning environment that encourages student engagement

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience in teaching maths at secondary level
  • Proven experience delivering maths interventions is highly desirable
  • DBS on the update service (essential)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (essential)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students
  • A proactive approach to helping students achieve their potential
