 Maths Graduate – Teaching Assistant

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Maths Focus – Upper Key Stage 2)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)

A beautiful countryside primary school in Chichester is looking for a Teaching Assistant with a specialism in maths to support pupils in Upper Key Stage 2. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a maths degree or experience working with the KS2 or KS3/KS4 curriculum, and who is eager to work in education, supporting pupils to build a solid mathematical foundation.

This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a real difference in a classroom environment. You will work closely with teachers to deliver small-group interventions and one-to-one support, helping pupils develop problem-solving skills and a love for learning. By breaking down complex concepts and making maths accessible and engaging, you will play a key role in supporting pupils to reach their full potential and overcome any barriers to their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group maths interventions to support pupils in Upper Key Stage 2
  • Work alongside class teachers to deliver and adapt maths lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Inspire pupils to develop a positive attitude towards maths, helping them to overcome any anxieties or difficulties
  • Assist children in developing numeracy skills, problem-solving abilities, and logical thinking
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that make maths enjoyable
  • Track pupil progress and work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide targeted support
  • Follow the school’s safeguarding and behavioural policies at all times

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • A maths degree or experience working with the KS2 or KS3/KS4 curriculum
  • A passion for helping young people develop confidence in maths
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or tutoring setting (preferred but not essential)
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • A patient, supportive, and engaging approach
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to pupils’ needs
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies
