Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – January Start
Company Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team and contribute to the success of the students.
Position Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with diverse learning needs. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will provide assistance to individual students or small groups, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can fully engage in the learning process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one support to students with specific learning needs, adapting teaching materials and methods as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.
- Classroom Assistance: Assist in the preparation of learning materials, classroom activities, and assessments.
- Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and record student progress, communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Behavioural Support: Offer guidance and support to students in managing behaviour, promoting a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
Qualities and Experience:
While formal Mental Health qualifications are not mandatory, the following qualities and experience are highly valued for success in this role:
- Previous experience working with young people facing mental health challenges and challenging behaviours, ideally in a school or therapeutic setting.
- An interest in or studies related to psychology, counselling, or therapy, which can complement your ability to provide effective support.
- Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals in improving their mental well-being.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills to effectively manage challenging situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to students’ diverse emotional and behavioural needs.
- Life experience around SEMH and challenging behaviour can contribute to your understanding and connection with the challenges our students face.
