As an SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping our students build essential skills and work towards improved mental well-being.
Position: SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Term time only)
Salary: £26’150pa
Start Date: ASAP or at the beginning of the new term

Role Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with our experienced teaching team to provide tailored support for young people facing mental health challenges and exhibiting challenging behaviours.
Implement the school’s behaviour management strategies and techniques to create a structured and positive classroom environment.
Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere that encourages emotional well-being and personal growth.
Provide one-on-one and group support during lessons, activities, and interventions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and therapists to facilitate holistic development for students.
Contribute to creating a calm and organised classroom setting.
Qualities and Experience:
While formal Mental Health qualifications are not mandatory, the following qualities and experience are highly valued for success in this role:
– Previous experience working with young people facing mental health challenges and challenging behaviours, ideally in a school or therapeutic setting.
– An interest in or studies related to psychology, counselling, or therapy, which can complement your ability to provide effective support.
– Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals in improving their mental well-being.
– Strong communication and de-escalation skills to effectively manage challenging situations.
– Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse emotional and behavioural needs of students.
– Life experience around SEMH and challenging behaviour can contribute to your understanding and connection with the challenges our students face.
