The Role:
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable DT Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop essential cooking skills, an understanding of nutrition, and a passion for food technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach a range of topics, including nutrition, food preparation, and health & safety in the kitchen
- Support and challenge students to reach their full potential, adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support
- Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment in the food technology room
- Contribute to the development of the DT and Food Technology curriculum
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as cookery clubs or competitions
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching DT Food Technology in a secondary school setting
- Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for food technology and nutrition
- An up-to-date DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- A commitment to inspiring students and fostering a love for food technology
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with GCSE and A-Level Food Technology delivery
- Knowledge of different teaching strategies to engage a diverse range of learners
- Familiarity with exam board specifications and assessment criteria
- Ability to contribute to whole-school healthy eating and sustainability initiatives
