About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our vibrant team on a maternity cover basis, starting in January 2025. This is a full-time role paid to scale, suitable for experienced teachers as well as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to make a positive impact and gain valuable experience in a supportive environment. There is potential for this role to become a permanent position based on performance and school needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, Prepare, and Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5, fostering a love of literature and developing strong literacy skills.
- Assessment and Feedback: Set, mark, and provide feedback on student work, supporting each pupil’s academic progress and identifying areas for improvement.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment, managing behaviour effectively to maintain engagement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the English Department to contribute to curriculum planning, development, and extracurricular activities.
- Support for ECTs: For ECT candidates, access to the school’s induction programme with mentoring and tailored support.
Person Specification
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in English.
Experience: Teaching experience in secondary schools is preferable, though ECTs with relevant experience or placements in English are encouraged to apply.
Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills. Passion for English literature and language, with a commitment to high-quality teaching.
