Job Title: Primary Teacher – SEMH School (Full Time)
Location: Between Horsham and Billingshurst, West Sussex
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience (inclusive of 12.07% PAYE holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP
Interview Date: Tuesday 29th April

Are you a passionate and nurturing educator who thrives in a supportive, therapeutic learning environment? Do you want to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with additional needs?

We are recruiting for a full-time Primary Teacher to join one of our most prestigious partner schools, a specialist all-boys SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school nestled in 23 acres of stunning countryside between Horsham and Billingshurst. The school offers a truly exceptional setting with outstanding facilities and a dedicated, supportive team that champions the wellbeing of both pupils and staff.

Due to its beautiful rural location, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

This is a wonderful opportunity to teach a small class of primary-aged boys, all of whom have additional needs and require a tailored, trauma-informed approach to learning. The school places a strong emphasis on nurture, structure, and consistency, with a therapeutic ethos that runs through everything they do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum that meets the individual needs of pupils

  • Create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment

  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, social interaction, and academic skills

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and senior leaders to support EHCP targets and holistic development

  • Encourage a love of learning through creative, hands-on and meaningful teaching strategies

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and outdoor learning

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

  • Experience teaching in a primary setting (experience with SEMH or SEND is advantageous but not essential)

  • A calm, compassionate and adaptable approach to teaching

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children to thrive

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to rural location)

In return, you’ll become part of a school community that offers incredible support for staff, genuine opportunities for professional development, and the reward of making a real difference every day.

To apply, please submit a full CV.
