Job Title: URGENT 1-1 Teaching Assistant for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – Brighton

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with SEND in Brighton. This rewarding role involves working closely with the student to provide individualised support, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring the child’s academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Personalised Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to the child, adapting teaching methods to accommodate their unique learning needs and preferences.

  2. Curriculum Adaptation: Collaborate with the classroom teacher to modify and tailor curriculum materials to align with the student’s learning plan.

  3. Behavioural Support: Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive conduct and assist the child in developing social and emotional skills.

  4. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the child, parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the student’s education.

  5. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess the student’s progress, identify areas for improvement, and work with the teaching team to develop appropriate interventions.

  6. Inclusion: Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, encouraging the participation and integration of the student with SEND.

Qualifications:

  1. Certifications in Special Education or relevant field are advantageous.
  2. Previous experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting.
  3. Understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the academic and personal growth of children with SEND.

Working Hours:

This is a full-time position, with working hours aligned with the school schedule.
