1:1 Teaching Assistant – Special Education (ADHD Focus)
Location: Secondary School in Chichester
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:45 am to 3:15 pm
Commencement Date: February 2024
Contract Type: Long-Term Rolling Basis
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary school student with ADHD. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive learning environment and providing personalized support to ensure the student’s academic and social success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to the student throughout the school day.
- Implement strategies outlined in the individualized plan to address the unique needs of the student with ADHD.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure the student’s integration into classroom activities.
- Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals involved in the student’s support plan.
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, adjusting support strategies as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavior management plans.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children and young people, particularly those with ADHD or similar challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Understanding of ADHD and the ability to implement strategies to support the student’s unique needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse learning needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of the student.
Qualifications:
- Relevant education or training in special education or a related field is desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
