The Role:
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach a range of literary texts, creative writing, and language analysis
- Support and challenge students to reach their full potential, adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support
- Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and department initiatives
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, debate teams, or theatre productions
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching English in a secondary school setting
- Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language
- An up-to-date DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- A commitment to inspiring students and fostering a love for English
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with A-Level English Language or Literature delivery
- Knowledge of different teaching strategies to engage a diverse range of learners
- Familiarity with exam board specifications and assessment criteria
- Ability to contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives
