The Role:

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach a range of literary texts, creative writing, and language analysis
  • Support and challenge students to reach their full potential, adapting teaching strategies as needed
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and department initiatives
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, debate teams, or theatre productions

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching English in a secondary school setting
  • Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language
  • An up-to-date DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • A commitment to inspiring students and fostering a love for English

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with A-Level English Language or Literature delivery
  • Knowledge of different teaching strategies to engage a diverse range of learners
  • Familiarity with exam board specifications and assessment criteria
  • Ability to contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives
