The Role:

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable DT Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop essential cooking skills, an understanding of nutrition, and a passion for food technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach a range of topics, including nutrition, food preparation, and health & safety in the kitchen
  • Support and challenge students to reach their full potential, adapting teaching strategies as needed
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment in the food technology room
  • Contribute to the development of the DT and Food Technology curriculum
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as cookery clubs or competitions

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching DT Food Technology in a secondary school setting
  • Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for food technology and nutrition
  • An up-to-date DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • A commitment to inspiring students and fostering a love for food technology

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with GCSE and A-Level Food Technology delivery
  • Knowledge of different teaching strategies to engage a diverse range of learners
  • Familiarity with exam board specifications and assessment criteria
  • Ability to contribute to whole-school healthy eating and sustainability initiatives
