Are you passionate about supporting young learners and helping them overcome challenges to achieve their full potential? A highly regarded secondary school in the East Grinstead area is seeking a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join their team from April 2025.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning caused by social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students to help them develop positive behaviour strategies.
  • Working closely with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, helping them to build confidence and resilience.
  • Supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour and creating a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Acting as a positive role model, promoting respectful and constructive behaviour.
  • Collaborating with pastoral and SEND teams to develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them feel valued and supported.

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday during term time. Initially offered on a temporary basis, the position has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about working with young people and helping them overcome challenges.
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Experienced in working with young people, particularly those with social, emotional, or behavioural needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a problem-solving mindset.
