SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Starting January 2025

Location: Worthing, United Kingdom
Position Type: Full-Time (8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
Salary: £84 per day, Temp to Perm (12 working weeks)


About the Role:
A dedicated and experienced SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant is required for a school in Worthing, starting in January. This full-time role involves supporting students with additional SEMH needs, providing guidance and fostering a positive, structured learning environment. You will work closely with teaching staff to manage behaviour effectively, support students’ learning, and ensure their well-being and engagement in the classroom.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs, helping them develop positive behaviours and coping strategies
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and classroom organisation
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, adapting approaches as needed
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students to thrive
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and parents to support student progress

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with SEMH students or in a behaviour management role within an educational setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a proactive, patient, and resilient approach
  • Own reliable transport, as local travel may be required
  • Ability to work full time, 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
