Teaching Assistant (SEN ADHD)

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN ADHD)
Hours: 08:30 to 15:30

 

We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work with KS1 and KS2 children with high needs ADHD in Burgess Hill. Candidates must have experience working with children or young adults with ADHD, whether through paid employment, personal experience, or volunteering. Experience with challenging behaviours and individuals who struggle to focus and follow routines is essential. The candidate must be able to support children in their daily activities and learning, using creative methods tailored to individual interests to keep them engaged.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with ADHD in their daily activities and learning.
  • Create engaging activities that cater to individual learning styles and interests.
  • Work closely with teachers to develop and adapt learning resources.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
  • Encourage social interaction and engagement among students.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
  • Experience working with high needs ADHD and challenging behaviours.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils.
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
  • Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
