A welcoming school in Worthing is seeking a strong and skilled teacher to lead their Year 1 class for the Spring and Summer terms. This role requires an educator who is not only confident in full teacher responsibilities, including planning, preparation, and assessment, but also has the ability to nurture children’s development and support pupils with SEND effectively.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with Key Stage 1 pupils, including those with additional needs, and possess a nurturing approach to ensure every child achieves their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for the Year 1 class, including planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons that align with the curriculum.
- Use a nurturing approach to support the needs of all pupils, particularly those with SEND, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the individual needs of pupils, ensuring all children can access and engage with the curriculum.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress, ensuring individual targets are set and achieved.
- Collaborate with colleagues, SENCo, and support staff to provide tailored interventions where necessary.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers, fostering a positive home-school partnership.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
- Proven experience as a primary school teacher, with a strong track record of teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1 pupils.
- Expertise in supporting children with SEND and nurturing their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Strong organisational skills to plan and prepare effectively for lessons, assessments, and progress tracking.
- Collaborative and proactive approach, working effectively as part of a team.
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
