Teaching Assistant – Part Time

Hours: Part-time, Thursdays and Fridays

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Reception class at a school in Worthing. This part-time role, working Thursdays and Fridays, focuses on supporting children with additional needs across a range of requirements. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with children with SEN and be confident in adapting approaches to meet the individual needs of pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and group support to children in Reception with additional needs.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt lessons and activities to suit the needs of pupils with SEN.
• Support children in developing social, emotional, and academic skills, ensuring they feel valued and engaged.
• Use a range of strategies and interventions to encourage learning and regulate behaviour.
• Monitor and document the progress of pupils, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
• Create a nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel confident and supported.

Essential Experience/Attributes:

• Proven experience working with children with additional needs, particularly in early years or primary settings.
• Strong understanding of a range of SEN, including strategies to support Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH needs.
• Ability to adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil requirements.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and staff.
• Patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
• A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
• Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are desirable but not essential.
