Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: Worthing
Contract: Long-term, ongoing

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary special needs school in Worthing. This rewarding role involves supporting children with a range of complex needs, both verbal and non-verbal, some of whom may exhibit challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to pupils, fostering their communication, learning, and social skills.
• Assist with daily classroom activities and adapt materials to meet individual learning needs.
• Work closely with a small, well-supported team in classes with high staff-to-pupil ratios.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help manage any challenges calmly and effectively.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, helping them feel valued and included.
• Support personal care needs where required, maintaining the dignity and comfort of each child.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience with SEND or a background in dementia care is highly desirable.
• A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach to working with children.
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• A proactive and flexible mindset to adapt to the unique needs of the children.
