Job Title: Alternative Provision Teacher (KS4 – Maths and Citizenship)

Location: Leatherhead Hub & Online
Contract: Part-Time (3 days per week)
Start Date: January 
Daily Rate: £130 – £150 (dependent on experience)


We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to join our alternative provision, which supports Key Stage 4 students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Our program offers a blend of vocational and academic subjects, delivered both face-to-face at our Leatherhead hub and online, providing students with a tailored pathway to success.

This role involves teaching GCSE/Functional Skills Maths and GCSE Citizenship across 3 days per week: 2 days face-to-face at our Leatherhead hub and 1 day teaching online.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for GCSE/Functional Skills Maths and GCSE Citizenship that cater to the unique needs of students in an alternative provision setting.
  • Blended Learning Approach: Effectively deliver face-to-face sessions at the Leatherhead hub and provide dynamic online teaching for remote learners.
  • Student Engagement: Build strong relationships with students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages their participation and progress.
  • Individualized Support: Identify and address the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student, tailoring teaching approaches accordingly.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and prepare them for examinations in both subjects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, support staff, and families to create a cohesive support network for each student.
  • Classroom Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and reflection to enhance teaching practices and outcomes for students.

Candidate Qualities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status preferrable: Expereince delivering GCSE/Functional Skills Maths and Citizenship to KS4 students.
  • Experience with Alternative Provision: Preferably with experience teaching students in a non-mainstream setting, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs.
  • Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the GCSE and Functional Skills Maths and Citizenship curricula, with the ability to adapt content for different levels of ability.
  • Tech-Savvy: Confident in delivering engaging and interactive online lessons using various digital platforms.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and resilient individual who can inspire and support students facing challenges.
  • Adaptability: The ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment, responding to the individual needs of students.
  • Team Player: Collaborative and willing to contribute to the wider school community.
