Position: Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Full Time
Working Schedule: Term Time Only, 36 hours per week – Monday 08.30-16.00, Tuesday – Thursday 08.30 – 16.15 and Friday 08.30 – 15.45
plus thirty minutes admin time. We cannot accommodate reduced working hours per day but can accommodate
less than 5 days per week (ideally 3 or more)
Salary: Up to £25,500 FTE

Our client is on the lookout for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an opportunity to work closely with young people in alternative provision, supporting their educational and personal growth. This role starts as temporary but can become permanent based on stellar performance and the school’s needs. As a Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will be a crucial part of delivering high-quality education and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Collaborate with teachers to plan and execute lessons tailored to individual student needs.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students.
Foster a safe and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Support students with special educational needs and behavioral challenges.
Assist with classroom management and provide strong behavioral support during challenging times.
Prepare learning materials and resources.
Supervise students during break times and school activities.
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role with SEND/SEMH/behavior is highly desirable.
A passion for working with young people and aiding their educational journey.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
A DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Degrees in Psychology or Criminology are of interest for SEMH (mental health) but not essential.
Potential for a permanent position.
