Position: Learning Support Assistant (Secondary Students)
Location: Just Outside Burgess Hill
Salary: £97 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp to Perm
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our team in a specialist school for secondary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with autism to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential in a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to secondary-aged students with autism.
  • Assist in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the specific needs of students with ASC.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes emotional well-being and independence.
  • Support students in managing behaviours associated with autism, using school strategies to maintain a calm and productive learning space.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning plans and interventions.
  • Encourage students’ social and communication skills, helping them build trust and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, ensuring clear communication with staff and families.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

  • Experience working with students with autism, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the specific needs of students with ASC.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people with autism succeed academically and personally.
