In this role, you’ll help set up engaging experiments, maintain equipment, and support teachers in delivering outstanding lessons that spark curiosity and a love of learning.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons.
- Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons to ensure experiments run smoothly and safely.
- Maintaining, organizing, and ensuring the safe storage of laboratory apparatus and chemicals in line with health and safety regulations.
- Conducting regular checks on equipment, repairing or arranging replacements as needed.
- Supporting students during experiments, encouraging proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Monitoring and managing stock levels of lab supplies, ordering new materials when required.
- Assisting in the development of new practical resources to enhance lesson delivery.
- Ensuring compliance with COSHH and other safety standards within the science department.
Requirements:
- Previous experience or a strong interest in working in a science-based environment.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training.
- A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Pay rate: £84 – £90 per day. If experienced, can be higher.
